Publimetro

Publimetro is the world’s largest free newspaper chain, with 77 daily editions published in 13 languages and distributed across 124 cities in 22 American, European, and Asian countries. The creator and owner is a Swedish company.

Publimetro Colombia has been circulating since 2011 in the city of Bogotá. It recently commenced distribution in Cali, Barranquilla, and Medellín through an alliance between Metro International and the Grupo Nacional de Medios. The latter sold its shareholding (49%) in March 2015.

Because of its free distribution, it is ranked in the 10 most read newspapers in the country. Whilst its content focuses on local news in the cities in which it circulates, it also covers national news.

It claims to target a different audience to those for the other free newspapers (DNA and Q´hubo). According to its director, Publimetro currently focuses on people aged between 25 and 45 in strata 3, 4 and 5. The newspaper is printed by El Globo S.A. publishing company, the company that owns the La República newspaper.
